The Saskatchewan Teachers Federation says it is time for their members to get involved when it comes to who is and who isn’t Saskatchewan’s next Premier and opposition leader.
Saying talks on education funding has not worked with the current government, STF president Patrick Maze is calling for his members to acquire party memberships and vote for the best candidate.
“Right now, teachers have a rare opportunity to influence the selection of a Premier,” Maze said. “The switch from delegate conventions to ‘one member, one vote’ formats means party members can be very influential.”
Earlier this week, Maze said there were 181 fewer teachers in the province this year than last. That statement was refuted by Education Minister Bronwyn Eyre who says the ministry’s numbers will come out later this week.
