Happy Halloween! Hoards of children across Regina and Saskatchewan will be going door to door in creative costumes, albeit over their winter suits! Think back to when you were a kid on Halloween. Which candy did you absolutely despise getting in your treat bag?
For me there were three “treats” that would get instantly tossed out. Number one was candy corn. They looked awful, they tasted awful, they hurt my teeth after, and nobody in the family liked them. GONE! Number 2 was wagon wheels. No kid on Halloween wants a wagon wheel. My Grandma always handed out wagon wheels and I didn’t have the heart to tell her they were terrible things! Bring on the mini mars bars and coffee crisps! Needless to say my parents got to have the wagon wheels. Now, as an adult, I love wagon wheels and buy them frequently. The third “treat” that I could never figure out why it was part of treat bags were the little boxes of raisins. Unless one is planning to make rice pudding the next day, who the heck wants raisins on Halloween? Get some chocolate on them! Glosettes figured that out years ago.
You can never go wrong with mini chocolate bars (full sized are even better), popcorn balls, chips, jolly ranchers, and gum. Give these out and the possibility of getting toilet papered or soaped gets drastically reduced. You become the “cool” person on the block with the best candy.
