The NDP says the public service is under attack by the SaskParty government.
Opposition critic Warren McCall says public servants are threatened with job loss and wage rollbacks.
Speaking in the legislature, McCall says public servants are being asked to take a 250 million dollar wage cut and have faced threats of job loss.
Finance minister Donna Harpauer says the collective bargaining process will determine if public servants will follow the MLA’s lead in taking a 3.5 percent wage cut to help balance the books.
She accused the NDP of funny math, wanting more services yet ignoring the need to balance the budget.
She says the province has increased the number of teachers, doctors and nurses.
But she says the government is not following the NDP lead in closing schools and health care facilities to balance the budget.
