The NDP is suggesting the province use part of a 300 million dollar contingency fund to assist ranchers who sustained losses last month in wildfires in western Saskatchewan.
Opposition critic Carla Beck says producers suffered devastating losses in parts of western Saskatchewan from wildfires.
Agriculture minister Lyle Stewart says the province is helping to dispose of dead livestock and help animals injured in the blazes.
Stewart says most of the available programs generally do not cover insurable assets and unfortunately, most of the losses were insurable assets.
But he says the province is still evaluating what can be done to help producers.
