The second Operation Bus Cop has concluded in Regina.
Officers from the Regina Police Service rode city buses throughout October to catch distracted drivers.
Spokesperson Kim Schmidt says to catch the law breakers, the police force, city transit and the city joined forces.
“They ride the bus.
There are other officers in marked cars following. Then the officer on the bus will see the infraction, they’ll the officers ‘it was this car, this infraction.’
Then they go get them.”
Out of 138 infractions caught by the R-P-S, over 80 of them were related to distracted driving.
Schmidt reminds drivers to put their phones down while operating a vehicle, as it compromises the safety of everyone around you.
