Today is the 8th of November and it’s only fitting to talk about Dean Brody’s new song entitled “8th Day.” The song is a celebration of those tough country girls out there.
“We had a lot of fun with this song,” stated Brody in our recent interview. “My producer Matt Rovey and I wrote it. It’s kind of a play on the whole saying “on the 8th day, God made a farmer” and so we thought hey, why don’t we say country girls are made that day too.”
In addition to the release of “8th Day,” Brody and his team have created a special day to honour the country girls of Canada by making November 8th National Country Girls Day. They have launched this as a social media campaign.
“We just thought it would be cool if people want to hashtag NationalCountryGirlsDay on Nov 8th and send a picture of yourself if you’re proud to be a country girl or got somebody in your life is and you want to say hey, she’s something special and hashtag NationalCountryGirlsDay and we’ll see if we can make it happen,” smiled Brody.
The song is from his “Beautiful Freakshow” album which his one of his most unique releases in years.
“It’s all over the map which is why we call it beautiful freakshow,” he elaborated. “This next record we’re working on right now is a little more back to my roots kind of country. This album will make sure we reach back a little bit, grab hammered dulcimers, just more traditional acoustic instruments and of course we’ll put a modern twist on it.”
Brody is still working on the new album and did not specify a release date.
