Mekayla Bali hasn’t been seen or heard from since April 2016, however her mother says they still continue to believe she’s alive.
Paula Bali told 620 CKRM’s Christina Cherneskey, it’s simply a gut feeling she has telling her that her daughter is still alive somewhere.
“Yes, you know what I have a very strong belief that even though 18 months has gone by, in my heart I believe she’s alive. I don’t believe she’s deceased, and in that instance I feel like I have to continue to do everything within my power to locate her,” Bali said.
Bali, who was 16 at the time of her disappearance was last seen at Yorkton’s bus depot in April 2016.
Since that time the Bali family and police have received thousands of tips from across Canada and the United States.
Paula Bali said one situation that creeps in an out of her mind is the idea of her daughter not being able to contact or ask for anyone for help.
“We just know that off the circumstances that Mekayla isn’t in control of the situation that she’s in, and so as a mom that is your worst nightmare,” she said. “Knowing that your child isn’t able to contact anyone, is not in control of the situation, it really leads you to a place of some really negative thoughts,” said Bali.
