White Butte RCMP will be having dash cameras installed in their vehicles on a permanent basis.
After a successful pilot project in White Butte, Southey and Saskatoon, 23 additional detachments throughout the province have installed dash cams in their vehicle.
Staff Sargent Devin Pugh says the cameras are durable and sensitive and are incredibly valuable.
“There’s a multitude of every situation that a police officer is required to attend that these cameras can assist.”
“It’s a very accurate depiction of any sort of actions that we can portray very accurately to the courts.”
Pugh also says the cameras are welcome additions to the detachment, as officers are reacting positively to the tool.
Dash cams are expected to be installed in all Saskatchewan RCMP vehicles by 2019.
