The Saskatchewan Stock Growers Association welcomes the Brad Wall government’s promise for matching donations for wildfire relief in western Saskatchewan.
So far, the Stock Growers have raised over 65-thousand-dollars, and the Wall government is promising to match the donation to a maximum of 100 thousand dollars.
Stock Growers manager Chad MacPherson said the extra funds will be put to good use.
“We’re very appreciative of this announcement made today, it’s a step in the right direction and will help producers recover and get back on their feet after the recent wildfire events,” he said.
More than a million dollars worth of cattle, pasture and cropland were destroyed in wildfires last month in southwest and western Saskatchewan.
The Stock Growers will also be accepting donations for the wildfire relief fund at Agribition in Regina next week.
