Two teachers who were shot to death at a school shooting in La Loche in January of 2016 are getting honoured by having two geographical features in northern Saskatchewan named after them.
Janvier Point is being named after Marie Janvier. It is located on Saleski Lake, just north of La Loche.
Adam Wood Memorial Landing is being named after Wood and is located along a creek just east of the village.
In a release from the government, Education Minister Bronwyn Eyre says this is a small gesture of our gratitude to Janvier and Wood to show we will forever be grateful for their courage and service to the students of La Loche
The honour was made possible through the province’s GeoMemorial Commemorative Naming Program.
