There’s confusion regarding which branch of government is responsible for a drainage ditch near the GTH that’s caused significant flooding in the past.
Last week in the Legislature, a local producer says he lost 60 acres of land in 2015 due to the ditch flooding.
Both the province and city of Regina are claiming it;s the others responsibility until a watershed association is formed.
Mayor Michael Fougere says all along the province has been responsible and that has never changed.
“The intent all along has been for the GTH to be manage and be responsible for that. That’s where we’re at now.”
The province says a watershed association would include the GTH, city of Regina, the R.M of Sherwood and land owners in the area.
