The halls of Regina International Airport were filled with cheers and plenty of Christmas spirit Tuesday morning.
WestJet hosted its 11th edition of their 12 Flights of Christmas promotion, rewarding over 160 passengers flying to Cancun with free travel vouchers and speakers.
One prize recipient, Doreen Van Der Weyre, says the event was shocking.
“Well I was excited about it, because I had seen it on TV about the 12 Days of Christmas,” said Van Der Weyre. “I was excited to see it was actually here today.”
Country music artist Aaron Pritchett was in attendance as well, noting the event was a great experience.
“It was such a great surprise to these people, they had no idea it was coming,” said Pritchett. “Sure enough, they got all these free gifts, a little entertainment from me and my son.”
Also in attendance was Weyburn PGA golfer Graham DeLaet who said he was honoured to come home and see the event.
“It’s really neat, kids got some stuffed animals, some of the people getting free flights,” he said. “I’ve sunk alot of birdies in my day, so this is a lot more meaningful.”
