The City of Regina is already looking forward to ride-sharing services being available for the public.
Services such as Uber and Lyft would allow those needing service to request a ride through a mobile app, with drivers making supplemental income to pick up and drop off those who need a ride.
Mayor Michael Fougere says if brought in correctly and run in a fair manner, ride-sharing services would be a big positive for the city of Regina.
“We want to make sure that we treat ride share the same as taxis,” says Fougere. “Actually, having ride share is good because it breeds excellence in the marketplace.”
The ride-share service would also relieve the demand for taxis during Regina’s peak hours, and keep impaired drivers off the roads.
