A historic newspaper in Moose Jaw hands out its last edition Wednesday.
The Times Herald has operated as a daily newspaper for 128 years in the city but has recently fallen on hard times thanks to the changing digital media age.
Moose Jaw Mayor Fraser Tolmie says the paper was down to about 12-hundred subscribers as of late, however he recognizes the Times herald as a staple in the community’s history.
“Obviously we’re sorry to be losing such a historical part of our city,” Tolmie told 620 CKRM News. “We’ve actually preserved and shared part of our history through the reporting of the Times Herald. We hope there’s another way that can be recorded.”
Tolmie says while there will still be a weekly paper, it’s now the digital media platforms and local radio residents will have to embrace.
