The Regina Pats returned home after an eight-game road trip on Friday night, but the homecoming was not a good one.
The Kelowna Rockets opened up a road trip through the Eastern Division with a 7-4 win.
Nolan Foote and Leif Mattson each had a pair for the winners who with the victory improve their record to 18-8-2-1.
Regina was led by Josh Mahura who had a hat-trick. Mahura’s first goal four minutes into the game was the Teddy Bear Toss goal as Pats fans covered the ice in stuffed animals that were collected up and will be donated to those less fortunate around the city next week as the team makes several stops including to hospitals to visit sick children.
The Pats, now 15-14-2 on the season, will be back in action Saturday night as the Medicine Hat Tigers come to town in a 7 o’clock start.
