Those taking Regina Transit from the city’s southeast will reach downtown a littler faster come Monday.
A newly installed priority bus lane and signal on Arcola will allow city transit to move a little quicker than other traffic.
Commuters will notice the bus priority traffic signal at the Arcola Avenue westbound and Ring Road northbound exit intersection.
In a news release the city said cameras at the intersection will detect when a bus is present in the bus-only lane, which will then activate the signal.
When active, a vertical white line will be displayed indicating the bus can proceed through the intersection ahead of other vehicles who will see a red traffic light.
After the bus has crossed the intersection, the signals will sequence as normal.
A video demonstration has been posted on the city’s YouTube channel.
