The Santa Workshop that 620 CKRM is supporting will benefit the children and families at St. Augustine Community School. Here’s how it works; new or gently used items for kids pre-K to Grade 8 are being accepted. Students and the families of the students from St. Augustine will be able to shop at the Santa’s Workshop store that will be set up in the school. The items will be sold for a dollar or two. The money raised supports the school’s lunch program.
This is so easy. No junk please. Drop off the items you have or have purchased from 8:30 to 5 pm tomorrow and Wednesday. The St. Augustine kids, staff and volunteers will sort the items and set up the store for the children to go and shop for Christmas. The address: 2343 Edgar Street.
Having participated in this last year, it is a rewarding program. The children are so excited and the amount of things that come through the door is amazing.
A cautionary note, do not off load stuff that should probably just be turned into trash or to a salvage “crafter”. These families should have things that you would be excited to receive!
I think I have gathered, compact discs, games, nice dishes, balls. Easy to purchase things would be gloves, toques, scarf sets. And if you have something that could be passed along, but has sat in containers clean them up and put things together. I’m sure there will be a place for these items at Santa’s Workshop!
There are a lot of pressures during the holidays, this is a wonderful way to reach out and offer support to people that might feel a little on the “outs” now due to money constraint.
