A Saskatchewan distillery and winery will soon have a new home in Regina.
Minhas Sask Ventures is building a new building in Regina’s north-east industrial area, which will be home to the largest distillery and winery in Saskatchewan.
Moni Minhas, President and CEO of Minhas Sask Ventures, says there is a business plan in place.
“Minhas Sask Ventures was recently formed with one thing in mind; that is to build a distillery in Regina, producing Vodka, Gin, Whiskies, Irish Cream and a bunch of other creative products.” Minhas says. “Basically, the idea is to create a business Saskatchewan centred, but also export.”
Minhas adds he plans to export to other provinces, as well as the United States.
Minhas says he has a connection to Saskatchewan going back to the late 1980’s.
“The reason I did it is because I have a great respect and love for Saskatchewan for many reasons,” Minhas says. “One of my very close friends was the very first person of Indian origin to play professional sports in North America, and he played for the Saskatchewan (Roughriders).”
David Sidoo, the former Rider Minhas speaks of, recorded 8 interceptions with the green and white in his 5 seasons with the team in the 1980’s.
The new facility will employ at least 20 people starting in mid-January.
