A member of the 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 64th battery in Yorkton is in the process of creating a charity race that will be held June 23rd, 2018.
Dayton Pierrepont says this fundraiser is called “Pugnare Nocte” or “Battle the Dark” in Latin, and it will be held in Yorkton. It will feature a 25, 50 or 100 kilometre run or load bearing walk, called a ruck, for participants.
The reason behind the idea is to raise awareness for depression, PTSD, and Suicide prevention. As a member of the Armed Forces, he figured this would be the best way to support his fellow comrades.
“I’ve worked with quite a few guys that have been deployed overseas, and with being deployed, sometimes suffer from PTSD,” he says.
“It’s a great way to support my brothers and sisters by doing this.”
In terms of a fundraising goal, Pierrepont doesn’t have one at this time, whatever is raised is great, but the more important objective is to shed as much light on these issues as possible.
