The water facility will serve the towns of White City and Emerald Park, and was developed in partenership between the town of White City and the RM of Edenwold.
Cecil Snyder, Chair of the White City RM Waste Water Authority, says this new waste water facility will allow more growth in the area.
“The long term plan is about 20 years, both municipalities have a number of developments that have been sitting on the sidelines waiting for this project to be announced and completed,” Snyder says. “We have a lot of interest in this area, especially since the new highway project is nearly finished which makes it a lot safer for people to drive back and forth.”
Construction is set to begin January 10th.
Snyder says there is a timeline in place for the new facility.
“The completion date for the building is in July or August, and then there’s the plant itself,” Snyder says. “The facilities in the plant have to be constructed so we hope to be up and running sometime in the fall.”
The new waste water treatment facility will expand to a capacity of 15 thousand users.
The current facility is currently at its capacity of users.
