It’s a little nippy out there today, huh? That would the most annoying understatement of the week I believe. This morning the temperature measured -30 degrees Celsius with a windchill of -43. Yes, it’s darn cold out there.
Let’s put this in perspective. According to space.com, the average temperature on Mars is -60 degrees Celsius, so with our windchill value this morning we’re only 17 degrees warmer than the fourth planet from the sun! A little closer to home, the temperature in Antarctica will be hovering in the low to mid -20’s all this week with windchill values in the low -30’s. So we can officially claim that we’re colder than we’re the penguins live. On the positive side there are no mosquitoes today, so we’ll claim that as a win!
To answer the the question above, it’s so cold that… I think I had a nosesicle, which is a combination of a frozen nose and an icicle forming from the tip to the lower part of nostril thanks to a brisk walk to work. Very attractive looking, I know. If you are heading outdoors make sure you dress appropriately, don’t spend long periods of time outside and make sure you plug in that vehicle if you have one.
It’s days like that make us realize why sweatpants and Netflix were invented. Best to be indoors with stretchy pants on, bing watching a show, preferably one that takes place in a warm climate. Enjoy!
