Is your vehicle ready to come home New Year’s Day?
Many families in Saskatchewan have been travelling over the holiday season and for most, New Year’s Day marks the end of the road travel season as people get set to return to a more usual routine.
Christine Niemczyk is the Director of Communications for CAA Saskatchewan.
She says to ensure you’re prepared for the worst when on the roads adding with the cold weather hanging on, it’s important you pack a road side safety kit.
“Make sure you have a mobile phone with a charger for emergency use only,” Niemczyk said. “Have a shovel, a windshield scraper, booster cables. Also consider packing some extra warm clothing for everyone in the vehicle.”
Niemczyk says it’s also important to pay attention to weather and the road conditions, as things can change on a dime..
“Listen to the media to determine how the weather will be,” Niemczyk said. “Also check with Saskatchewan Highway Hotline.”
