To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.
Scripture from the Bible isn’t something that you see often in our blogs, but considering how yesterday unfolded, it seems appropriate.
Whether its through social media, calling us to say hello at anytime of the day, in particular the Flea Market or stopping by to see us while on location, we do care about those people that listen. So when someone is absent for a period of time, there is concern.
On December 28th I learned of the passing of one of our listeners, he also happened to be uncle to friends from Bethune. I was surprised, as anyone would be to hear the news of Mel Ulmer’s death on Christmas Day. Melvin’s service was yesterday.
As difficult as it can be to attend a service, there are times you realize its more important to be there than not. It is an opportunity to learn a bit more about the person. Perhaps you thought you knew them and realize you didn’t. A time support the family. And in the case of Mel, to hear the stories and recollections of a man that lived a simple life and wasn’t afraid to just be Mel.
There was laughter and many insightful stories. Rest easy Melvin – our listeners will miss your calls.
