For a second consecutive year Crime Stoppers received a record amount of tips in Regina throughout 2017.
Just under 12-hundred tips came in this past year, a 9.6 per-cent increase from 2016 and the most in the organization’s 33-year history.
Craig Perrault, Vice President of Regina Crime Stoppers believes an increased social media presence is one reason more and more tips are coming in.
“We hadn’t really joined the Facebook realm, in 2017 we joined that, we have over 2,000 followers and it has a lot of sharing capacity for us which for something like Crime Stoppers works well to get that exposure and tip pattern going,” Perrault said.
The record amount of tips helped to clear 23 cases that resulted in 11 arrests and the recovery of over 190-thousand dollars in stolen property and drugs.
