I will be off tomorrow! Jessie, my great-nephew is Regina bound for a couple of nights.
What do you do with someone that’s 9?!
Lots of options open up when the weather becomes warmer and you need to burn off energy. But let’s keep it within a certain budget as well.
Jessie’s birthday is in November, Christmas follows, which means he’s pretty stocked up on cool things – what more could a kid want. Peace and quiet and a little one on one time with his aunts! Jessie happens to have six year old brothers at home. Not to mention a dog, a cat and two guinea pigs. There might be a trip to the humane society in store, but nothing coming home – sorry kid!
I’ve been inspired to de-clutter my apartment with his arrival. Not a resolution, but a game plan to re-focus what I want to accomplish this year. Which is having more time to entertain people at home, feeling like there is a sense of control and freedom. If you are organized, you already know what this is like. If you suffer from having stuff – you know what I’m talking about. Wow, this has become its own topic.
The reality of the weekend is entertaining Jessie. I know what’s going to happen – he will want to be doing something every waking minute of the day, will not like what I cook or prepare. I’m curious to see if he will hide behind me when he meets new people or if at the age of nine he’s matured a bit more.
The list of activities could include: trip to the Science Centre, the Royal Saskatchewan Museum, IMAX Theatre, the YMCA Climbing Wall or pool, movie theatre, Wascana Bird Count, walk around the lake, skating at the Marina.
I think a second job might be in my future! Oh I can’t forget eating out!
Do you remember visiting an aunt & uncle when you were a kid, couldn’t wait to play with the cousins?
My Aunt Elva and Uncle Jim lived on a farm near Aylesbury, Saskatchewan and coming into visit Aunt Gen and Uncle Harry was also a special treat! My other relatives were too far away – Kindersley area and Washington State.
I’ve got to go! There are loads of laundry to do, space to clear and a new vacuum to purchase! Oh, and I best be hitting the bank and making a grocery list! The Welcome Mat is out!
