With many new faces in the lineup, the Regina Pats took to the ice just hours after the WHL trade deadline.
With newcomers like Jesse Gabrielle, Jonas Harkins, Libor Hajek, and Ryan Kubic in the lineup, the Pats dropped to a record of 21-19-4 as they were beaten 4-3 in overtime by the Edmonton Oil Kings.
Regina jumped out into a 2-0 lead on a pair of goals from Robbie Holmes, but the Oil Kings stormed back to take a 3-2 lead until Matt Bradley tied it with his 26th of the year and 100th career WHL goal with just over five minutes to play.
In overtime, Brett Kemp capitalized on a picture-perfect 2 on 1 tapping home a Trey Fix-Wolansky pass into an open net to give the Oil Kings the two points.
Regina will see its next action Friday against Bryan Lockner and the Medicine Hat Tigers in a 7 PM start.
It is expected Sam Steel will be back in the Regina lineup for that game as he has taken some time off after winning gold at the World Juniors. Cam Hebig, Aaron Hyman and Brady Pouteau who were all picked up via trade Wednesday are also expected to make their Regina debut.
