SaskEnergy says it will continue to work door-to-door in Melfort, Kinistino, St. Brieux and surrounding rural areas to restore natural gas service after a pipeline rupture Wednesday morning caused a loss of service to about 4,500 customers.
According to a media release, there was a failure on a high-pressure transmission line in the middle of a field between Weldon and Birch Hills.
The ruptured section caused the temporary pressure drop, but it has now been repaired.
SaskEnergy says it has made significant progress restoring individual services, relighting appliances and performing safety checks – this work will continue into Thursday until completed.
In situations where homeowners are not present, SaskEnergy will work with local RCMP, using the services of a locksmith, to enter the premises in order to restore service and prevent potential damage caused by frozen pipes.
