Two First Nations in Saskatchewan are participating in a pilot program to get students interested in technology.
Students from grades five through nine at Cowessess First Nation and Kahkewistahaw First Nation will get to take part in RoboYou, a program piloted by Innovation Saskatchewan.
Wes Jickling, CEO of Innovation Saskatchewan, says it’s a way of bringing students attention towards a career they may not have otherwise considered.
“It’s a way of engaging primary and secondary students, getting them interested in technology. Learning about technology, getting comfortable with technology, all the interest of having kids consider pursuing a career in the tech sector.”
The program runs from now until the end of June, and will be reviewed to determine the next steps for the program.
