Happy Monday! I hope you had an excellent weekend because there certainly wasn’t a shortage of things to do especially if you’re into live music.
Beer Bacon and Bands took place at the Conexus Arts Centre Friday night along with live music at Revival featuring Justin LaBrash and J.J. Voss. It was full house as the two Saskatchewan country artists belted out the tunes. The cool thing about going to a country show is seeing all the other Saskatchewan country musicians supporting one another by going to the shows as well.
Saturday night featured Blake Berglund and the band in Balgonie. Being a small town guy himself, Berglund knows the importance of fundraisers to help keep facilities and organizations going. Saturday night’s fundraiser was for the Balgonie Curling Club.
For those who love the more traditional sounds of country music, the Ultimate Tribute to Conway Twitty Show was not to be missed at the Conexus Arts Centre. The show featured Tayla Lynn, granddaughter of Loretta Lynn as well as Tre Twitty, grandson of Conway Twitty. Tayla Lynn shared stories of her legendary grandmother and sang the songs she wrote. She talked about the advice her grandmother has given her over the years and how it impacted her life. Tre Twitty also shared stories of his grandfather, what it was like to be at one of his shows, and sang his songs. His version of “The Rose” was incredible, a performance that Conway would approve of. At the end of the show Tayla Lynn joined Twitty to sing a few iconic Conway and Loretta duets before closing the night off with “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man.”
