Yesterday morning I got an early email from my wife who was still at home getting ready for work. Apparently our dog had an ear infection. Really? I just cleaned his ears a few days before and they were fine. I just took him to the vet a couple of weeks before that and he got a clean bill of health, including is ears.
Talk about timing. A couple of days to go before our trip and now the dog decides to get an ear infection. Our neighbour looks after our dog while we’re gone and the last thing I want to strap him with is a dog that’ll need a little more attention than usual. Oh well, it’s not his first ear infection and it won’t be his last.
When I got home after work I had a look in Max’s ear and it wasn’t pretty. Been there, done that. So I scooped him up and it was back for another visit with the vet. It’s funny how these trips seem to come in cycles. It’ll be nothing for a while and then bang, two or three trips within a couple of weeks.
Max and I got there and were told it might be a bit of a wait. There were about 4 or 5 other people in front of me, so I kind of expected that. It was nearly an hour and a half wait before we finally did get in to see the vet. Max ended up having a couple of different bacterias working on his ear as well as a yeast infection. Atta boy, go big or go home. I told the vet I had just checked his ears a few days ago and was informed that this kind of thing can spring up rather quickly.
Soon we were back home with medicine in hand.
Total time? About an hour and 45 minutes. No different than when I go to see the doctor!
