Saskatchewan farm groups are looking forward to working with the province’s re-appointed Minister of Agriculture.
Lyle Stewart was re-appointed by Premier Scott Moe on Friday to the Agriculture portfolio.
Saskatchewan Stock Growers General Manager Chad MacPherson, said Stewart has a strong working relationship with his group.
He is hoping the minister can make some improvements to livestock programs.
“We’re looking for improvements to the forage insurance and the creation of fire insurance program,” MacPherson said.
“Looking forward to continuing with trade negotiations and trying to get NAFTA re-negotiated or modernized,” he added.
Lyle Stewart farms at Pense, just west of Regina, and has been the minister of Agriculture since 2012 and an MLA since 1999.
