Today is an interesting day for a few reasons. First off it’s Shrove Tuesday a.k. Pancake Day a.k.a Mardi Gras. There are a number of ways one can enjoy pancakes. Everybody looks at me with this funky look when I describe how I eat pancakes. First off, I apply a thick layer of cheese whiz on a pancake hot off the grill. I then drown that cheesed up pancake in syrup. The sharpness of the cheese and the sweetness of the syrup really compliment each other very well. Trust me. I tell no lies!
It’s also world radio day today. A day to celebrate the wonderful invention of the radio. It’s changed and evolved a bit over the years but it’s still a very important part of our everyday lives. 2018 will mark my 13th year in this crazy and busy business and what a ride it has been! It’s pretty rewarding working in a business that can help make incredible things happen in cities and towns everywhere. I have been part of some incredible experiences including helping those affected by fires and floods in Alberta and helped bring awareness and fundraising for a new rink in a small Manitoba town. Being able to interview and talk with incredible movers and shakers in our communities and being able to help lift the spirits of those having a bad day makes radio a pretty sweet gig.
I find it interesting…maybe a bit ironic….that World Radio Day and Pancake Day fall on the same day! I believe this is a delicious subtle hint!
One more thing about today. Way to go Canada! We picked up three more medals in South Korea. John Morris and Kaitlyn Lawes (Johnny Lawes) picked up gold in mixed doubles curling, Alex Gough got bronze in women’s luge, and Kim Boutin won bronze in women’s short track 500 metre race.
February 13th is shaping up to be an excellent day!
