While at the State of the City address, Mayor Michael Fougere addressed the need for an overpass for the train tracks on Ring road near Winnipeg Street.
Fougere spoke about the recent collision between a semi truck and train which knocked out the crossing light unit, and has been down ever since.
Fougere says this option has been on the table for a while.
“This has been something that I’ve been thinking about and our administration has been talking with CN, CP and others about what we can do there,” Fougere says. “It’s been a recent discussion about ‘how do we find a solution?’ ‘How do we actually find a resolution to this?’ And of course, the idea of an overpass is really the only solution.”
A study is being conducted to look at the possibility of building either of the overpass or underpass on the Ring road, and what it would cost to build it.
