We’re only one day away from the biggest winter party in the history of the Saskatchewan capital.
The Waskimo Winter Games return to Regina for a second consecutive year on Monday, February 19th, this following a 16 year absence.
Games spokesperson Jim Aho said with last years games being a bit frenzied, they’ve taken some measures they learned from last year to improve the experiences of both the athletes and spectators.
“We learned a lot of lessons last year, with the huge crowds and the way everything was formatted,” said Aho. “So we’ve changed some things up, people will be happy to know. And the main thing we want to say is, everything is free this year at Waskimo.”
Aho notes there’s going to be several great events for anyone to get engaged, like the sled dog races and old favourite sleigh rides. And that’s just the beginning.
“We got snow cricket, if you’ve ever seen cricket played, let alone in the snow, you should come and see that. The fat bikes will be out racing on the ice this year, that’s a beautiful event. And of course, we got the Holistic Olympic Outhouse Races which draw huge crowds.”
