North Battleford is about to play host to one of the biggest events if not the biggest in the city’s history.
The 2018 Saskatchewan Winter Games begin Sunday night with the opening ceremonies at the Civic Centre with the first half of sports being contested running from Monday-Wednesday with the second half going Thursday-Saturday.
Games manager Nicole Clow says the entire city and area has embraced the event and she is sure North Battleford will pull off what will be a solid week for competitors, coaches and parents of those coming from across the province.
The Saskatchewan Winter Games are seen as the first step by Sasksport to perhaps being an Olympian.
Regina speedskater Kali Christ and White City speedskater Marsha Hudey are in Pyongchang competing for Canada right now at the Winter Olympics, but before they got to that stage, they were both competitors in the games.
