Here we are again. Monday. I think Monday gets a bad rap sometimes because not everybody shares the same enthusiasm about heading back to work. I love Mondays because I get to see and hear about everybody’s weekend plus there is so much to talk about thanks to the activities of Saturday and Sunday!
Friday night I had the pleasure of emceeing the Legend of George Jones Show featuring Duane Steele. The Casino Regina show lounge was completely sold out for the concert which featured the stories and songs of the legendary George Jones. Steele played all the hits including White Lightening, Love Bug, He Stopped Loving Her Today, Who’s Going to Fill Their Shoes, I don’t Need Your Rocking Chair, among others. Saskatchewan’s Darlene Tuleta also accompanied Duane and Steele and filled the role of Tammy Wynette. They all received a standing ovation after the show.
Reginans and Saskatchewanians came together on Saturday to help out 8 year old Vonn Chorneyko with his hunt to find a bone marrow transplant. Nearly 3 thousand people turned out at the Cooperators Centre for a cheek swab. You can read more about this amazing story by clicking here.
The YWCA Coldest Night of the Year was also a huge success. Nearly 100 walkers tuned out and raised $27 thousand dollars. The walk started at St. Paul’s Church and took place throughout the downtown core. The event raises awareness and funds to help fight family homelessness in the Queen City. Hats off to all the volunteers and organizers of this year’s walk.
Looking ahead, the Brier will get going this week in Regina at the Brandt Centre! I hope you all have a great week!
Here are a few pics from the weekend, starting with the Legend of George Jones show.
