Regina police have now formally charged a 26 year old man with many charges including pointing a firearm, assault with a weapon and impaired driving after allegedly pointing a weapon at people in downtown Regina Wednesday afternoon.
Axyl Mahingen was taken into custody after being tasered at Ottawa Street and 12th Avenue around 1:30 after police received multiple reports about a man in a vehicle pointing a gun at them.
When officers located the man and took him into custody, they found out the car he was in had been stolen with the weapon–a pellet gun—being found after he was arrested. They also determined the man had robbed another man at gunpoint on the 500 block of Montreal Street earlier in the day.
Mahingen made his first court appearance Thursday morning.
