It took the Pats a while to get their scoring touch on Saturday night in Calgary, but they managed to find it in time to squeak out a win against the Hitmen.
Calgary had a 2-0 lead early in the third period before Regina found the back of the net. Aaron Hyman cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 3:56 mark of the 3rd period followed by a Jake Leschyshyn goal at 11:47 that tied it.
That set the stage for Sam Steel in overtime as the captain took a pass from Cameron Hebig and beat Nick Schneider on a breakaway just 32 seconds in to give Regina a big 3-2 win.
The win leaves the Pats with a record of 34-25-5-1 and puts them back into 3rd place in the Eastern Division one point ahead of Brandon.
The team heads up Highway 2 Sunday to battle the Edmonton Oil Kings in a 5 o’clock start Regina time. 620 CKRM will have the game for you starting with the pre-game show at 4:35.
