Every morning this week after leaving the radio station and before heading over to our temporary broadcast home at the Brandt Centre, I make a stop at McDonald’s to grab some coffee for Evans and I and Mosh, our engineer who meets us every morning at 5 to make sure our equipment is up and running for the day. Thanks for doing that Mosh!
Yesterday, along with coffee, I thought I’d grab some breakfast for all of us. When I rolled up to the drive-through, the person working the window asked if I would be using cash or debit to pay for my order. Uh oh, that’s not a good sign for a guy like me who usually carries no cash whatsoever. When I told the guy I’d be paying with debit, he apologized and said the debit machine was down. It was cash only. I had about $10 in change for my parking next week, but I knew that wouldn’t be enough for my order, so I drove through and told the guy I’d be back as soon as I found a bank machine.
So, I left the parking lot and made my way to the Credit Union on the corner of 5th Avenue and Elphinstone. I dashed in, grabbed some cash, and made my way back to McDonald’s. The nice thing about rolling into the Drive-through at 5 A.M. is it’s never busy.
I placed my order, paid with cash, and then was off for another morning at the Brier.
The things I guy will do for a cup of coffee!
