Farmers in Saskatchewan are encouraged by a promise from CN Rail to pick up efforts to move grain to market this winter.
CN Rail is taking steps to improve grain movement by adding extra trains and more staff.
Saskatchewan Pulse Growers Director, Lee Moats is encouraged by the promise from CN rail.
“Clearly they have some human resource problems and if not some problems with equipment,” he said.
“it sounds like a pretty significant challenge for them, but we’re hopeful and at least this shows that they’re taking action and taking this issue seriously,” Moats said.
CN’s promise follows a letter written a day earlier from the federal ministers of Transport and Agriculture, calling for clear action from the railways for better grain movement.
