Jim Cuddy and his band is currently on their Constellation Tour across Canada. Joining him is his two sons Sam Polley and Devin Cuddy as well as longtime friend Barney Bentall.
“I thought my audience would be really perfect for Barney and he was willing and he was fantastic. People love him all across the country,” said Cuddy.
The Constellation Tour will swing by the Conexus Arts Centre on Sunday, March 11. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 8. The title of his fourth solo album is called “Constellation” and, as Cuddy explains, the title track is an incredibly personal song for him.
“It’s a song about a friend I lost a year and a half ago. I have a little farm north of Toronto that this friend helped me find because he was from that area and he loved it up there and it was at a point we knew he wasn’t going to his battle and so we went up with a couple friends and had epic night of way to much drinking”, chuckled Cuddy. “At one point of the night we would go outside and name a star after him.”
He added he didn’t want to write just about the loss of his friend but all the good times they had.
The first single to be released from the album is entitled “One Thing Right,” a song he wrote about him and his wife.
“When she heard this song she said ‘Oh that’s about’….and she mentioned one of my male friends! I’m, like, what are you talking about, that’s about us, how could you not recognize the stuff about us? That’s how we met,” Cuddy said with a big laugh.
The song is not only about dedication but reflects on many aspects longtime married couples can relate with. You can hear our entire interview Friday morning (March 9th), including “One Thing Right.” between 11 a.m. and noon on 620 CKRM.
