Saskatoon police have issued a release aimed at drug users in Saskatoon after two died and four others were hospitalized on the weekend for drug overdoses.
They are warning anyone who might have purchased cocaine from a drug dealer named “Lil Joe” or “Joe Bro” or have contacted a dealer with the number 306-881-7300, that the drug they purchased could be laced with fentanyl. Police say the dosage of fentanyl in the drug may be lethal.
On Saturday morning between 7:30 a.m to 10:30 a.m, EMS were called to three separate locations. In the first call, two men in their 20’s were taken to hospital after an apparent drug overdose. Both are now recovering. A second call resulted in a 27 and 31 year old man having to be taken to hospital after an apparent overdose. One of the two died with the other recovering. The third call saw two women aged 25 and 49 found unresponsive in a home. The 49 year old died.
In the media release, police say they are not looking to charge anyone in possession of this cocaine, but “we are interested in the health and safety of the public.”
Three people have been charged with a number of drugs and $14000 in cash being seized.
Police are asking anyone with information to call them or Crime Stoppers.
