Well, my doctor appointment yesterday went just as expected, even better. When I got to the office it was packed, just as I had predicted. After checking in with the receptionist I went to the waiting room and grabbed one of the three chairs that were available and hunkered down for a wait that I was sure would be longer than half an hour.
I decided to pull out my phone to check if, by any chance, the office might have free Wi-Fi available. I was pleasantly surprised to find that there was, indeed, Wi-Fi. Well, that suddenly gave me something to do while I was waiting. Instead of glancing around a room of people who were staring at me as much as I was staring at them, I could now stare at my little screen and shut out the world! I checked up on the latest from the Blue Jays camp and the Maple Leafs. I checked my work emails. I texted my wife to let her know I made it there in one piece. I checked out the 620 CKRM app that I have loaded on my phone.
Before I knew it my name was called and I made my way into my doctor’s office. Within a few minutes my doctor showed up and after the usual greetings he refilled my prescription and I was on my way. The total time, from the time I arrived until the time I left, was less than an hour.
Thank you Wi-Fi. You made my wait yesterday a lot more bearable.
