CN Rail says grain shipments have improved significantly in the past couple weeks across western Canada.
The Director of Grain Marketing at CN Rail, David Przednowek, said hopper car cycle times have jumped substantially and CN is taking steps to reduce the grain backlog.
The President of APAS, Todd Lewis, welcomes the improvement but points out there has been intense pressure from various groups.
He said the railways are well paid for their work, which has been poor this season.
Lewis also added there is still a grain backlog and farmers are paying for it.
