Farmers Business Network is setting up shop in Saskatchewan, just not where you’d expect.
The American based agriculture company is opening it’s latest operation in the eastern city of Yorkton.
The company, which expanded into Canada earlier this winter, has announced the acquisition of Yorkton Distributors.
Terms of the deal were not announced.
Tom Staples, General Manager of Canadian Operations for FBN, said this company is one tailor made for farmers.
“We’re aggregating information together in ways that give farmers transparency on ways that they can improve their operations,” he noted.
Staples also spoke about potential staffing concerns. He says with this takeover, unlike many others, the existing staff at former Yorkton Distributors don’t have to worry about the security of their job.
“From the growers perspective, it’s really business as usual,” he said.
Staples more than 1.8 million acres of Canadian farms from Alberta, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, and Ontario have already joined the Farmers Business Network.
