To say 2017 and early 2018 has been a busy year for Lumsden’s Justin LaBrash would be an understatement. The rising Saskatchewan country musician has released songs, videos, and performed at festivals and fundraisers all over the province, including on the big stage at Country Thunder Saskatchewan courtesy of the proudly Saskatchewan Showcase on 620 CKRM.
Now he’s gearing up for a performance of a lifetime.
“I can finally tell people that I am performing on the awards show this year, which is my first time, and one of the first times they had an artist that wasn’t a previous SCMA winner perform on the show, so I’m pretty excited about it,” said an enthusiastic LaBrash.
He’s up for three awards this year, male artist of the year, emerging artist of the year, and for video of the year for his fort single entitled “front row seat.”
“I’ll get to play with some really talented musicians, including Bart McKay who produced my last couple of singles, so it’ll be fun to share the stage with him,” smiled LaBrash.
The singer admits he was pleasantly surprised when he got the call about the Saskatchewan Country Music Association Award nominations.
“I’m so honoured especially male artist of the year. That such an esteemed category so to be in that league, I guess, is mind blowing and a real honour,” LaBrash stated.
Good luck to all the nominees this year at the SCMA’s which will be handed out April 28th in Prince Albert. Labrash is also gearing up a screening of his new video for his new song entitled “miss you” and will be doing a live recording for a song that will be featured on his next album. The event is open to the public April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Artesian on 13th Ave.
