Brad Morrisey tallied twice while Ethan Ernst scored once and helped set-up two others as the Notre Dame Hounds defeated the Thunder Bay Kings 7-1 Saturday afternoon in the final round robin game of the TELUS Cup West Regional in Thunder Bay.
With the result, Notre Dames finishes first with a 3-0 record and will now advance to the championship game Sunday against the Winnipeg Wild (2-1) at 2 p.m. ET back in Thunder Bay.
Following a touching and moving pre-game ceremony honouring the victims and those associated with the horrific events involving the Humboldt Broncos on Friday, a sombre start to the contest saw the majority of the first period remain scoreless. However, Notre Dame got a goal in the final minute of the first from Ernst to take the lead after 20 minutes.
The Hounds then poured it on in the 2nd scoring four times to take control.
The winner of the game advances to the Telus Cup national championship in Sudbury April 23-29.
