The rural muncipality of Connaught wants changes at the intersection where a tragic crash Friday took 15 lives from the Humboldt Broncos hockey team.
RM councillor Dale Poggemiller says presently, Highway 335 has stop signs with flashing warning lights.
But, he feels more could be done to improve the safety of the intersection. One of the ways that can be done, he said, is by adding rumble strips.
“For warnings for motorists that that is a stop sign there and they’ll definitely know something major is coming up then,” he said.
“That’s the motion we’ve through. So, the secretary is going to be sending a letter to highways, letting them know that’s what we’re requesting.”
With the addition of rumble strips to the area, Poggemiller believes safety at the intersection would greatly improve.
