The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League will continue its season this weekend.
After a conference call with the league’s 12 teams on Wednesay, it was decided to continue on with the playoffs in the wake of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash that killed 15 people last Friday. The Broncos were on their way to Nipawin to play the Hawks in Game 5 of a semi-final series that Nipawin led 3-1. The Estevan Bruins had already advanced to the league final after eliminating North Battleford, they will play Nipawin, who were leading the Broncos three games to one when Friday’s tragedy occurred.
Game one will be Saturday night in Nipawin.
The winner of the SJHL final would meet the winner of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League final in the ANAVET Cup with the winner of that series advancing to the RBC Cup “Junior A” national championship in Chilliwack, BC.
More details will be announced Thursday at a news conference in Regina.
