A Newfoundland truck driver has been sentenced in Montana to six months in jail for an accident that killed a Swift Current man last year.
The Great Falls Tribune newspaper says Jaroslav Kleberc pleaded guilty in February to careless driving, a misdemeanor, and no contest to tampering with physical evidence which is considered a felony.
In April of last year, 72 year old Marvin Knutson of Swift Current was killed when the van he was driving was hit by a semi Kleberc was operating through an “:authorized vehicles only” turnaround on Interstate 15 near Great Falls and continued driving.
With time already spent in jail, Kleberc is no longer behind bars
The family is also suing Kleberc and his trucking firm in civil court for damages.
